Esclusivo: la crisi del Sole 24 Ore denunciata dall’interno
A conversation with Nicola Borzi, Giuseppe Oddo and Giorgio Meletti
Two journalists of Il Sole 24 Ore talk about the investigation that uncovered the tragic crisis of their newspaper: an inquiry carried out from within by those journalists who have been bold enough to denounce the disastrous administration of Confindustria’s publishing group, and the activities of the former managers and of the managing director, both inquired by the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Milan for false accounting. The DIG Festival hosts the Director-General of Il Sole 24 Ore, Nicola Borzi, and his testimony; who with his accusations to the Surveillance Authorities, has reported irregularities and inconsistencies within the accounts and the newspaper’s circulated data. Together with Borzi, during the conversation there will also be Giuseppe Oddo, envoy and author of important investigations, as well as the newspaper’s landmark writer, who has experienced all its major changes since the early 80’s. What has been one of the foremost newspaper in terms of reliability, popularity and profit, has plunged – from 2009 onwards – into an unprecedented crisis that has devoured the huge profits and resources. Il Sole 24 Ore nowfinds itself in a difficult stage of transition, experiencing changes that may well be decisive: what is at stake here is the independence and the future of a vital means of information for the acquisition of awareness and for the understanding of the economy, finance and businesses.
